Shannon Basin Loop
The Shannon Basin Loop is an Intermediate, winding loop that follows the terrain around the Shannon Creek watershed and offers scenic views of Goat Ridge, Shannon Creek, and Sky Pilot.
The Shannon Basin Loop begins on the Backcountry Access Road, leading to upper Shannon creek pedestrian bridge, then drops down an old roadbed that meanders down 3.2 km to lower Shannon creek bridge. Two viewpoints along the way offer views of the basin's mountains as well as the Atl’ká7tsem/Howe Sound fjord. From there you can drop down the Sea to Summit Trail and continue to the bottom of the gondola, or stay right to take the Upper Sea to Summit Trail to return to the Summit Lodge. Connecting to the Upper Sea to Summit Trail makes for a nice, moderately technical, 2-3 hour return trip from the top of the gondola.
