At approximately 4:00am on Monday, September 14, a second act of vandalism occurred at the Sea to Sky Gondola and the main cable has been cut. No staff or guests were on the line. We are working with the RCMP and our efforts are focused on the well-being of our staff at this time. The gondola is closed and we ask that the public stay away from the area for the safety of everyone.

Sea to Sky Gondola Shannon Basin Loop Trail

Shannon Basin Loop Trail

Difficulty: Intermediate
Duration: 2 to 3 hours
Distance: 9.7 km
Elevation Gain: Net gain 474 m, 292 m loss
Seasonality: Summer/Winter

The Shannon Basin Loop Trail is an Intermediate, winding loop that follows the terrain around the Shannon Creek watershed and offers scenic views of Goat Ridge, Shannon Creek, and Sky Pilot.

The Shannon Basin Loop begins on the Backcountry Access Road, then drops down an old roadbed that meanders down 3.2 km to a bridge crossing over Shannon Creek. From there you can drop down the Sea to Summit Trail and continue to the bottom of the gondola, or stay right to take the Upper Sea to Summit Trail to return to the summit. Connecting to the Upper Sea to Summit Trail makes for a nice, moderately technical, 2-4 hour return trip from the top of the gondola.
