Ready for a bigger challenge? The Summit Leadership Challenge is our signature guided experience and the most immersive program in the Summit Leadership Series. Participants develop practical backcountry skills throughout the day before applying everything they've learned in a collaborative final challenge.
Designed for teams looking to strengthen communication, leadership, strategic thinking, and resilience, this program combines facilitated learning, outdoor adventure, and a culminating scenario that requires every team member to contribute.

Hiking 101: The 3 T's of Backcountry Leadership
Learn how successful mountain adventures begin long before the trailhead. Through Trip Planning, Training, and Taking the Essentials, teams explore the value of preparation, shared expectations, and proactive decision-making.
The Ten Essentials Challenge
Faced with a dynamic mountain scenario, your team must decide which 10 items are most critical for success. Discover how the Ten Essentials support navigation, communication, first and comfort when conditions change.
Emergency Response & Teamwork
Respond to realistic backcountry scenarios involving injuries, changing weather, and unexpected obstacles. Teams will practice communication, role allocation, and collaborative problem-solving while learning practical wilderness response skills.
Shelter Building Challenge
Collaborate to build a functional emergency shelter while balancing resources, time, and team strengths. This challenge emphasizes innovation, resourcefulness, planning, and teamwork.
Basic Navigation
Learn how to use maps, landmarks, and environmental clues to navigate effectively through the backcountry. Teams discover the importance of accurate information, communication, and route planning.
The Summit Rescue Challenge
Put your new skills to the test in a timed final scenario. Working together, teams must navigate through the mountain environment to locate a simulated injured hiker, assess changing conditions, communicate effectively, and safely transport the patient to a designated extraction point. Success depends on teamwork, leadership, adaptability, and the ability to perform under pressure.
