Reporting Structure
Reports directly to the Executive Chef and works closely with the Head Chef, Manager and Sous Chefs.
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation of all Food & Beverage shipping, receiving, purchasing, inventory control, stock management, and warehouse organization functions.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring physical work, organization, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to maintaining efficient inventory systems.
The Shipping Supervisor oversees a team of 2-3 seasonal shipping team members during peak operating months (May through October) and works closely with the culinary team throughout the winter season to ensure all shipping, purchasing, receiving, and inventory requirements are met.

Duties & Responsibilities
Inventory, Purchasing & Logistics
· Manage all F&B receiving, shipping, inventory control, stock rotation, and storage procedures.
· Place all Food & Beverage orders with approved suppliers in accordance with business needs, menu requirements, and established par levels.
· Monitor inventory trends and proactively place orders to ensure uninterrupted operations across all Food & Beverage outlets.
· Coordinate directly with suppliers regarding deliveries, product availability, substitutions, and pricing concerns.
· Complete weekly supplier pick-ups and other transportation-related tasks as required.
· Receive and verify all incoming deliveries for accuracy, quality, and condition.
· Coordinate and organize daily movement of products and supplies throughout Food & Beverage outlets.
· Ensure all products are stored safely and appropriately according to FoodSafe standards.
· Maintain accurate inventory records using the Orca Inventory Management System.
· Conduct regular inventory counts, cycle counts, and audits.
· Monitor stock levels and communicate inventory requirements to culinary leadership.
· Create purchase orders and ensure they are accurately tracked and maintained.
· Receive, review, and reconcile invoices against deliveries and purchase orders.
· Assist with menu costing, recipe costing, inventory reporting, and cost control initiatives.
· Work closely with suppliers and vendors to coordinate deliveries and resolve discrepancies.
· Ensure proper stock rotation and minimize food and beverage waste.
Leadership & Team Development
· Supervise, train, coach, and support seasonal shipping team members.
· Schedule and coordinate daily shipping and receiving tasks.
· Assist with onboarding and training shipping staff.
· Promote a positive, productive, and safety-focused work environment.
· Ensure shipping staff follow established procedures, standards, and safe work practices.
· Provide ongoing coaching, support, and performance feedback.
Organization & Facility Standards
· Maintain clean, organized, and efficient storage areas, coolers, freezers, dry storage rooms, and receiving locations.
· Ensure all shipping and inventory areas meet food safety and operational standards.
· Develop and maintain organizational systems that improve efficiency, accessibility, and inventory accuracy.
· Promote sustainability through proper recycling and waste management practices.
· Ensure all storage areas remain safe, clean, and well organized year-round.
Communication & Collaboration
· Work closely with the Executive Chef, Head Chef, Sous Chefs, and F&B leadership team.
· Communicate product shortages, inventory concerns, and operational issues promptly.
· Support culinary and operational teams by ensuring appropriate par levels are maintained across all outlets.
· Assist with menu changes, seasonal transitions, special events, and operational projects.
· Maintain clear communication with suppliers, delivery partners, and internal stakeholders.
Safety
· Ensure compliance with Sea to Sky Gondola Occupational Health & Safety policies and WorkSafe BC regulations.
· Participate in and promote safe lifting and material handling practices.
· Maintain a strong focus on workplace safety for both team members and guests.
· Ensure proper use of equipment, storage systems, and safe working procedures.
Required Skills & Experience
· Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, inventory management, purchasing, or food and beverage logistics.
· Previous supervisory or leadership experience is considered an asset.
· Experience working directly with food and beverage suppliers.
· Experience with purchasing, ordering, inventory management, and invoice processing.
· Experience working with inventory management systems; Orca experience is considered an asset.
· Strong understanding of inventory control, purchasing procedures, and cost management.
· Strong organization and time management skills.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
· Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team.
· Food service, culinary, or hospitality experience is considered an asset.
Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding position requiring regular lifting, carrying, bending, pushing, pulling, and prolonged standing.
The successful candidate must be able to:
· Stand and walk for up to 10 hours per shift.
· Frequently lift and carry products weighing up to 50 lbs.
· Occasionally lift heavier items with assistance or appropriate equipment.
· Move large quantities of food, beverage, and operational supplies throughout the property.
· Work in coolers, freezers, storage rooms, loading areas, and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
· Perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
· Safely load, unload, and transport products and supplies.
General Requirements
· Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License (required).
· Clean driving record.
· FoodSafe Level 1 Certification (or ability to obtain).
· Serving It Right Certification is considered an asset.
· Criminal Record Check required.
· Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 10 hours per shift.
· Must be able to regularly lift and carry 50 lbs and occasionally move heavier items with assistance.
· Must be comfortable working in coolers, freezers, storage areas, loading zones, and outdoor environments in all seasons.
