Production Cook
Status: Casual / PT / FT
Hours per week: up to 40 - depends on status
Rate of pay: $19.50 per hour
Reporting to our Executive Chef, the Production Cooks prepare products for daily service, weddings, special events and grab & go. In this role, our team members will have the opportunity to learn new cooking styles and recipes. We are looking for a passionate team player, as you are the heart of the kitchen and will be preparing food for all our outlets and events. This role requires minimal line cooking and will primarily focus on production work. The candidate must have knowledge in using different kitchen tools, kitchen equipment and have adequate knife skills.
Duties and responsibilities
- Prepare the necessary food items as directed by the Executive Chef.
- Support sustainability goals to reduce waste and energy consumption and encourage employee and guest engagement.
- Adhere to standardized recipes and specifications in order to maintain consistency.
- Keep workstation clean and organized, including fridges/freezers, and kitchen equipment.
- Keep overproduction and food waste to a minimum to reduce food cost expense.
- Ensure that all food products are handled, stored, prepared, and served safely in accordance with Food Safety guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with Sea to Sky Gondola Occupational Health & Safety program and the regulation of WorkSafe BC.
- Promote our culture of sustainability through adherence to our waste management program.
- Interacts with Gondola Guests in a positive and engaging manner when in contact with them.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Chef and other team members as required.
Skills, experience & education
- Minimum 2 year of experience in a high-volume F&B environment.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Proven ability in managing time is critical; must be able to plan and execute effectively.
- Knowledge of Quick Serve operations.
- Food Safe Certificate is mandatory.
- Able to stay calm under stressful conditions.
- Knowledge of culinary cooking techniques.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and can multitask under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length.
- Mature, friendly, and well-groomed.
- Criminal Record Check required.
