AVALANCHE REPORT

The Sea to Sky Gondola has adopted a policy in which backcountry skis and snowboards will not be loaded on the gondola on days in which Avalanche Canada, in their public avalanche advisory deems our zone to be rated as 'high' or 'extreme'. Nordic skis will continue to be uploaded for use on the Backcountry Access Road from the gondola summit to Shannon Creek.

Walking

Trails: Mostly bare dirt. Good walking conditions. Winter footwear with good tread or shoes with micro spikes recommended. Micro-spikes and neoprene over-boots available for rent in Summit retail shop for $5.

Backyard Plaza: Mostly bare with hard packed snow and ice sections. Good walking conditions.

Snowshoeing

Not recommended on our front country trails. Our three snowshoe-only trails off Panorama trail are closed. Snowshoes are recommended for our backcountry trail including Al's Habrich, Shannon Basin Loop and Skypilot Valley Trail at higher altitudes.

Snow Tubing

Closed today. The tube park will remain closed until we get more snow.

Ski Touring

We are uploading backcountry skis and snowboards today. Access road has very little snow for the first two kilometres. There is more snow once you connect with Sky Pilot Valley trail. Visit Avalanche Canada and search Sea to Sky Gondola for current conditions in the region.

Panorama TrailAll dirt and gravel. Very good walking conditions.
Wonderland Lake LoopSnow and ice with bare dirt sections at the beginning. Good walking conditions. Icy. Micro-spikes recommended for people without winter footwear with a good tread. Lake is frozen but not safe to walk on.
Alpine AlleyClosed until the trail is free of snow and ice.
Sea to Summit TrailHikers must be prepared with appropriate gear for changing conditions as they gain elevation. Trail sections may be slippery when wet or frozen without proper footwear or micro-spikes. Wrinkles rock section may be icy and require micro-spikes, especially in the morning. Check conditions before venturing. Allow plenty of time when travelling this trail. If this is your first time hiking Sea To Summit trail, we recommend leaving before noon. Always carry a headlamp and extra gear on this long and demanding trail. Be sure to carry sufficient water (one litre minimum). Note that cellular reception is not dependable on portions of this trail.
Al's Habrich TrailWinter conditions. Snow covered. Snowshoes advised at higher altitudes. Watch for slippery, icy sections. Enter trail via winter route. Oleson creek crossing may be difficult due to higher water level. Safety rope in place. Stepping stones to cross the creek may be a few centimetres under water in high flow conditions. Proper winter foot wear strongly recommended. Carrying crampons (micro-spikes) is advised as there may still be icy, slippery sections.
Shannon Basin LoopSnow/ice with some dirt patches showing through on upper sections of this trail. Good winter walking conditions. Note that cellular reception is not dependable on this loop trail. Micro-spikes advised for the upper elevation portions of this trail.
Highline TrailClosed.

Sparky's Spin

Mostly bare dirt. Micro-spikes advised for people without winter footwear with a good tread. Enjoy the old growth forest.
Neverland Loop TrailTrail is brushy and somewhat overgrown. Snow covered. Micro-spikes advised for people without winter footwear with a good tread. Neverland falls water flow is currently at low volume.
Skyline RidgeTrail

Snow covered. Expect a lot of overgrown alder in upper portions of this trail. Overgrown alder on lower portion of trail was cleared last summer.

Sky Pilot ValleyTrailSnow covered with some dirt patches showing through. Snow depth increases as you go up. A lot of machine improvement work was done this summer to the road portion of this trail.
Access Road Machine groomed Jan 26th. Access road is mostly down to dirt. There is more snow once you connect with Sky Pilot Valley trail. Micro-spikes advised for people without winter footwear with a good tread.
