Yoga, Rise + Climb Group Hikes and Axe Throwing Inspire Visitors To Escape Into Natural Habitats.

SQUAMISH, BC May 30, 2017 – Wellness, with a side of axe throwing, is what’s new at Sea to Sky Gondola this summer. With a packed schedule of events and experiences, hikers, yogis, sightseers and patio connoisseurs can escape into their natural habitats at the summit this summer.

With a focus on health and wellness at the Sea to Sky Gondola, the Rise + Climb dedicated group hike will get summer weekends off on the right foot. Rise + Climb will take place every Saturday morning from July 1 to September 2 with pace groups departing from the valley at 6:45 a.m., 7:15 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. Hikers can also ascend the 7.5 km forested and rocky trail at their own pace to the summit where a power stretch and coffee on the patio will wind down the event. For those who like to work out with a view the Rise + Climb is the perfect way to reward the senses every step of the way.

The Sea to Sky Gondola’s mountain top yoga series is back by popular demand and back on the mat Saturday, June 17 with the launch event, Summer Welcome Yoga Solstice. This kick off will see each yoga host for the summer series come together to lead an inspiring day of movement and meditation at the summit. The yoga series will continue through the summer with daily classes Monday through Thursday, June 19-August 31 from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. The schedule features “Gentle Awakening” with Annie Martinello on Mondays, “Vinyasa Flow” with North Yoga on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and “Yoga + Meditation” with Sarah Manwaring-Jones on Wednesdays.

Other must-dos this summer include axe throwing with the Axewood Crew, where guests can huck a hatchet in a safe and controlled carnival-style throwing gallery. The panoramic vistas from the expansive deck of the Summit Lodge provide the perfect patio experience with cold craft beers, and simple and delicious locally sourced meals. Embrace the weekend with live music during the Mountain Music Series every Friday night from June 9 to September 22, 2017, or take advantage of Sunset Saturdays when guests can get 50 per cent off their ticket when purchased at the ticket window after 5 p.m. from now until September 22.

Sea to Sky Gondola summer activities inspire all kinds of adventurers. Walking trails and viewpoints will give the whole family new perspectives while the Talking Trees Tour hosted by local First Nations interpretive guides immerse guests in the natural and historical significance of the alpine forests and ocean surrounding the gondola. For an adrenaline fix the Via Ferrata climbing experience with Mountain Skills Academy and Adventure has climbers traversing a catwalk, crossing bridges, and ascending granite, the “iron way” with steel rungs and a fixed cable system. More experienced hikers use the gondola to glide up to the summit where they can then lace up the hiking boots to journey deeper into the pristine alpine backcountry.

Hours of operation now until September 23 are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturdays. Enjoy weeklong hours of 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the Sunset Stretch August 4-19. Adult day tickets are $39.95 when purchased online and $41.95 at the ticket window.
