What A Wedding Day Looks like at the Sea to Sky Gondola

26 August, 2026

One of the questions we hear most often from couples is, "What does a wedding day at Sea to Sky Gondola actually look like?"

While photos showcase our stunning mountain backdrop, they don't always tell the full story. From arriving at the Summit to walking down the aisle, enjoying cocktail hour on the Diamond Head Deck, and dancing beneath the mountains, every part of your wedding day is thoughtfully planned to create a seamless experience for you and your guests.

Here's a step-by-step look at what your wedding day could look like at Sea to Sky Gondola.

Arriving at the Summit

Your wedding journey begins with a scenic gondola ride to the Summit, where guests are greeted by panoramic views of Howe Sound and the surrounding Coast Mountains.

As guests step off the gondola, they'll find our Summit Lodge directly in front of them and begin making their way toward the ceremony site. The short walk allows everyone to take in the mountain scenery and sets the tone for an unforgettable celebration.

Our Mountaintop Ceremony Site

Our ceremony site is nestled amongst the mountains and offers breathtaking views in every direction.

The ceremony setup includes seating for up to 40 guests, with chairs arranged on either side of the aisle, creating an intimate and welcoming atmosphere. We also include a complementary signing table and water station for your guests to enjoy on warmer days. There is a dedicated area for musicians or DJs, complete with power access to ensure sound carries clearly throughout the space.

To help personalize your ceremony, we offer optional rentals including:

  • A-frame ceremony arch

  • Microphone and speaker package

One of the benefits of our rentals is that it can be transferred to the reception space following the ceremony, allowing your décor investment to be enjoyed throughout the day.

A Ceremony Entrance Unlike Any Other

One of the most unique features of our venue is the Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge.

Couples have the option to use the bridge as their ceremony aisle, creating a dramatic entrance above the forest below. Others choose to use the bridge exclusively for wedding photos, while some opt for our beautiful forest trail entrance instead. The choice is completely yours.

For couples using the bridge as their aisle, we provide a 15-minute bridge closure, allowing for a private and memorable entrance. Some couples even choose to incorporate both entrance options, with members of the wedding party arriving from different directions to create a truly personalized ceremony experience.

How We Create a Private Ceremony in a Public Space

As a mountaintop venue, one of the questions we're asked most often is how we ensure privacy during wedding ceremonies.

We've been hosting weddings for many years and have a process in place that works very well. Your ceremony includes a one-hour closure of the Spirit Trail Platform, beginning 30 minutes before your ceremony start time and ending 30 minutes after the ceremony begins.

While your décor is being set up, the ceremony space remains open to the public. However, 30 minutes before the ceremony starts, we close the entire ceremony area to visitors. During this closure, our team welcomes your guests and allows them access to the space, ensuring you have a private and uninterrupted ceremony experience.

Our staff are positioned throughout the area to guide visitors away from the ceremony space and direct guest traffic around the trail. We also post private event signage and manage the flow of guests around the suspension bridge and viewing areas so you can focus entirely on the moment.

For most couples, this means enjoying a private ceremony experience while still taking advantage of a spectacular public destination.

Getting Ready in the Co-Pilot Room

Located on the other side of the Suspension Bridge is our Co-Pilot Room.

This space serves as a comfortable retreat before your ceremony, providing a convenient location for final touches, quiet moments, and gathering with your wedding party before walking down the aisle.

Its close proximity to both ceremony entrances makes it easy to transition into the next part of the day without stress.

Celebrating in the Summit Lodge

Following your ceremony, your reception space becomes the heart of the celebration.

The venue is exclusively yours beginning three hours prior to your ceremony and remains available throughout the evening. Inside, the space can accommodate:

  • Up to 100 guests for a family-style dinner
  • Up to 120 guests for a cocktail-style reception

One of the things couples appreciate most is that many essentials are already included. Your venue fee includes:

  • Tables and chairs
  • Plates, cutlery and glassware
  • Linen tablecloths
  • Linen napkins

You're also welcome to bring your own wedding cake.

Cocktail Hour on the Diamond Head Deck

After the ceremony, guests can gather on the Diamond Head Deck for cocktails, canapés and spectacular views.

The deck is covered from May through October, providing shade on sunny summer afternoons while also serving as our dedicated weather backup location.

Welcome tables, water stations and drink service can all be set up to greet guests as they arrive. With panoramic mountain views surrounding the space, many couples find that cocktail hour becomes one of their guests' favourite parts of the day.

Dinner, Dancing and Mountain Views

As the evening progresses, the Diamond Head Deck transforms once again.

The space comfortably accommodates a DJ or live band and quickly becomes the focal point for dancing and celebrations. With power access readily available and ample room for entertainment setups, couples can customize the atmosphere to fit their vision while preserving plenty of space for guests to mingle and dance.

Few things compare to celebrating with family and friends while surrounded by the mountains of the Sea to Sky corridor.

Experience It for Yourself

While photos and videos can give you a glimpse of what a wedding at Sea to Sky Gondola looks like, nothing compares to experiencing it in person.

Whether you're planning an intimate ceremony, a mountaintop elopement, or a full wedding celebration, we'd love to show you around and help you envision your day at the summit.
