Summer HikingStay Safe and Choose Your Adventure
08 June, 2026
Summer on our trails is beautiful and often hot. Whether you're tackling Sea to Summit or The Climb, preparation is key to a safe and enjoyable hike.
Before You Go
Bring at least 2 litres of water per person. Dehydration can happen quickly in the heat.
Wear a wide-brim hat and light, breathable clothing to help prevent sunburn and overheating.
Start early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid peak temperatures and enjoy cooler conditions.
Trail Conditions
Both Sea to Summit and The Climb are dry, cool, and freshly maintained, making for excellent hiking conditions.
Which Hike is Right for You?
Sea to Summit
Longer, steady climb with varied terrain
Scenic Howe Sound viewpoint along the way
The Climb
Shorter but steeper and more intense
Features ropes, ladders, and scrambling from the start
Know Your Limits
Neither trail is beginner-friendly. Both require a good level of fitness, and The Climb adds a technical element that increases the challenge.
Listen to your body. If you experience headaches, dizziness, or nausea, stop and rest in the shade. If you're not feeling well, turn back. The mountain will be here tomorrow.
Whether you choose the scenic grind of Sea to Summit or the technical challenge of The Climb, pack smart, pace yourself, and stay hydrated. A safe hike is a great hike and one you'll want to do again.
