19 September, 2014

Snap and win!

Want to win free lift tickets or an Adult Winter Season Pass? Read the guidelines below for contest details:

Picture content:  Your photos can be of anything at the gondola area: cool cloud formations, your coffee and book, your office-for-the-day setup in the Summit Lodge, water drops on leaves - we would love to see it all!

Contest starts September 19, 2014  and closes Thursday, October 9, 2014.

Weekly Winner: Every Thursday, we'll announce our favourite of the week, and reward the owner of the photo with 2 free round-trip lift tickets.

GRAND PRIZE WINNER: We'll choose our favourite of all the #mistydaycontest entries and announce the winner on Friday, October 10, 2014. The winner will receive a free Adult Winter Season Pass on us!

Not sure what you can do at the Sea to Sky Gondola on a misty day? We've gathered some suggestions for you below... Remember, you can always check our webcam for conditions at the Summit.

#1. FLY THROUGH THE MIST TO 885 METRES

Take the gondola up into the clouds and leave your worries behind.

If you have kids visiting, consider taking them up the gondola. Children 5 and under ride free. It's a new feeling for most kids, and they love being able to see from so high up. Photo by @agslater on Instagram.

Often, the clouds are high enough that the view from the gondola and our summit remain free of clouds. Photo by @Jose_azpril on Instagram.

#2. EXERCISE IN THE COOL AIR

A cool day is perfect for a good hike or trail run. Get out and moving on one of our many beautiful, green trails. Try Sea to Summit trail (2-4 hours) for an uphill workout with multiple meandering sections that allow you to catch your breath. The Sea to Summit Trail has changing scenery all along the 10km hike. Steep stepping sections. Intermediate/Advanced level hike. Reward yourself with lunch and a drink at the Summit Lodge when you finish (congrats!). For a newer advanced trail, try Al's Habrich Ridge Trail to Neverland Lake Loop and look out for serene ponds and lakes.

#3. CROSS INTO THE UNKNOWN

Experience the odd sensation of being suspended middle of a cloud. Cross the Skypilot Suspension Bridge at our Summit Lodge.

Cloudy bridge pictures make for pretty awesome profile picture too. How about this one? Take some pictures on the suspension bridge with your friends or family. Photo by @meghankoneill from Instagram.

#4. TAKE A GUIDED TOUR

Learn about the areas you visit to make your visit that much richer. Every day, at 11am and 2pm, our mountain guides will meet you on our Summit Lodge deck and take you through 30-40 minutes of history and knowledge on Squamish. We promise you'll walk away knowing more than when you walked onto the gondola.

#5. EXPLORE IN PEACE

Need some time to think? Explore our easy, front country trailsl like the Spirit Trail (400m) or Panorama Trail (1.6km). See if you can make out parts of Squamish from our Chief Overlook Platform on Panorama Trail.

#6. R&R (READ AND RELAX)

Find peace and quiet in our Summit Lodge during grey weather days. Sit down, bring some reading (or some work?) and get to it in peace. We have various food and beverage options to keep you going as you go about your day . We have two cafes, one at our base, and one at our Summit Lodge. Our Summit Lodge has a full-service restaurant, bar and tea house/cafe.

#7. WORK FROM THE SUMMIT LODGE

Need a bit of moderate noise to stay focused? Need to get out of the house or your office for some fresh inspiration? Try setting up your own "office-for-the-day" in our Summit Lodge Tea House. Relax on our Tea House sofa chairs and look out at the suspension bridge any time you need a break from your work.

#8. MEET YOUR COWORKERS IN A NEW PLACE

We've had visitors meet with their coworkers at the Summit just to brainstorm in a new environment over coffee and lunch. Who knows, you might just find what you're looking for with your head literally in the clouds.
