3 Wedding Flower Tips Every Couple Should Know

02 June, 2026

Choosing your wedding flowers is one of the most exciting parts of planning your day, but with so many options it can also feel a little overwhelming. From colours and styles to budgets and seasonal availability, there’s a lot to think about. Here are our three biggest tips to help you choose flowers that not only look beautiful, but also work perfectly for your wedding day.

Choose Flowers That Are In Season

One of the best things you can do when selecting your wedding flowers is to choose blooms that are naturally in season at the time of your wedding. Not only are seasonal flowers often more affordable, but they are also at their absolute best when it comes to colour, freshness, and quality.

Flowers that are in season tend to have brighter colours, look fuller, and last longer throughout the day and into the evening. Your florist will also usually have more variety available, giving you more flexibility when creating your dream arrangements.

If you have a specific flower in mind, it’s always worth asking your florist whether it will be in season for your wedding date or if there are similar alternatives that could give you the same look.

Repurpose Your Flowers Throughout the Day

Wedding flowers can be a big investment, so getting the most out of them is always a great idea. Many ceremony arrangements can easily be moved into your reception space after the ceremony, helping to transform the room without needing completely separate florals.

For example, aisle arrangements can become reception centrepieces, ceremony arches can frame your sweetheart table, and bouquets can be displayed around the venue during dinner and speeches.

At the end of the evening, another lovely touch is to encourage guests to take flowers home with them. Not only does this mean your beautiful arrangements don’t go to waste, but it also gives guests a thoughtful surprise gift to enjoy after the wedding.

Sometimes Less Is More

When it comes to wedding flowers, bigger doesn’t always mean better. Depending on your venue, a few carefully chosen arrangements can have just as much impact as large-scale floral installations.

One of the best things you can do is look through real wedding photos from your venue. Seeing how previous couples styled the space can help you understand:

  • What floral styles suit the venue best

  • Which areas naturally stand out and may need less décor

  • Whether you prefer a more minimal or more elaborate floral look

This can also help you prioritise your budget and focus on the areas that will have the biggest visual impact in photos and in person.

At the end of the day, your wedding flowers should reflect your style and the atmosphere you want to create. Whether you love romantic garden roses, modern white orchids, or colourful wildflowers, the most important thing is choosing arrangements that feel like
